This Sunday, August 21, 2022 in the company of our great certified guide Mateo we visited Palenque Chiapas and nearby places in order to recognize some places to bring a group of 63 retired teachers from Coahuila.
We enter the jungle of the Natural Protected Area of the Archaeological Zone of Palenque. Where you can admire some buildings of the splendor of the Mayan vestiges. There you will see several streams, waterfalls, springs and lagoons. It seems like you are in pre-Hispanic times. Although Mateo told us that these trees are at most 50 to 70 years old. Since they were cut down by man. And fortunately generations of our grandparents planted them again. So the enormous size of the vegetation is still majestic.
From there, we stopped to go to the restroom, you can buy things outside the Archaeological Zone of Palenque. Above all to hydrate, because if you expect to walk and sweat a lot due to the humidity in the vegetation.

With great professionalism, Mateo introduced us to the history of the pre-classic, classic and post-classic life of Palenque. We learned that the maximum splendor was during approximately 45 years during the time of King Pakal and his wife, the Red Queen, originally from Paraíso, Tabasco. Let's remember that the Archaeological Zone of Comalcalco, came to be conquered by Palenque. At the moment you can not climb the pyramids because they are under conservation by INAH. Although at the end you can climb the last two pyramids.

After a long two hour tour, where Mateo very kindly did our mini photo session. We went to eat at the restaurant Bufete El Cielo Maya. I highly recommend it because for $200.00 pesos you eat tasty different varieties of Mexican stews, with its outstanding mole chiapaneco, salad bar, fruit, rice, beans, desserts and seasonal fruit waters. The service is first class.
After lunch we went to the Misol-Há Waterfalls where you can walk behind it, explore it until you reach its cave where you will see part of the source of the water eye by going inside with a flashlight. If you are daring, you can swim in the pool of water similar to a large cenote. The truth is that because of the heat and humidity, you will enjoy the cold water. More than anything in this summer season.
There are cabins there if you decide to stay and there are people around who can sell you some snacks.

We continue our journey to the Roberto Barrios Waterfall. One of the many wonders of Chiapas. There you will walk 5 trails where you will admire the different waterfalls. Here the people of the Ejido have organized themselves so well that they rent you life jackets for $50 pesos, manage rescue teams, and rent you WIFI for $20 pesos for 4 hours.
If you are adventurous or if you are a person who likes to spend and share your money to generate an economic benefit by consuming products or services from the indigenous zones of Chiapas, you are the right person to do it. You are the right person to do it.
I do recommend that you do not travel alone or on your own. Since we as agencies or local guides, we know the behaviors, traditions and customs of the communities. Because for their own safety they are distrustful of people they do not know. Let's remember that they have suffered a lot of marginalization or looting of all kinds. They are noble, cheerful and helpful people.
Sincerely Mexico is a country that has it all, for its richness in flora, fauna, gastronomy, social and cultural.
I invite you through Grace Trips and Events to share so many stories together. So that you may be filled with joy in your life.
